TabBellus Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 18, 2026

1. Our Core Privacy Philosophy: Local-First

At TabBellus, we believe your browsing data is entirely your own business. TabBellus is built on a “Local-First” architecture. This means we do not track, collect, transmit, or sell your personal data or browsing history. All of your workspaces, saved tabs, and search histories are processed and stored locally on your own device.

2. What Data We Access and Why

To function as a premium workspace manager, TabBellus requires certain browser permissions. We only request the absolute minimum permissions necessary to provide the app’s core features:

  • Tabs & Tab Groups: We access the URLs, titles, favicons, and grouping status of your open tabs so you can view, organize, and save them within the TabBellus sidebar.
  • Sessions (Recently Closed): We access your recently closed windows and tabs exclusively to power the “History / Time Machine” feature, allowing you to restore accidentally closed workspaces.
  • Storage & Unlimited Storage: We use your browser’s local database (IndexedDB and Chrome Storage) to save your custom “Spaces,” “Read Later” items, and recent search history so they persist across browser sessions.

3. Support & Technical Diagnosis

When you voluntarily use the “Help & Feedback” feature to contact our support team, the application may append basic, non-identifying technical metadata to the support URL to assist us in diagnosing issues. This may include:

  • App Version & Browser: e.g., TabBellus v1.0.0 on Chrome.
  • Operating System: e.g., Windows or macOS.
  • Session Metadata: A snapshot count of currently open windows and tabs (numbers only, no URLs or titles) to help diagnose performance or synchronization issues.

This data is only transmitted if and when you choose to click the Support link. It is never sent automatically in the background.

4. Data Storage and Transmission

Zero Cloud Tracking: TabBellus does not utilize external servers, cloud databases, or third-party analytics trackers to monitor your browsing habits.

  • Your saved “Spaces” and “Read Later” lists never leave your machine.
  • If you utilize the Chrome profile sync feature, some basic application settings may sync across your devices via Google’s encrypted chrome.storage.sync API, but your core browsing data remains strictly local.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

Because your data never leaves your device, we do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information or browsing history with any third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.

6. User Control and Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data. At any time, you can:

  • Export Your Data: Use the “Export Backup” feature in the TabBellus Settings to download a local copy of your Spaces.
  • Completely Erase Your Data: Use the “Delete All Data” button in the TabBellus Settings (Danger Zone) to instantly permanently wipe all TabBellus data from your browser’s local database.

7. Changes to This Policy

As TabBellus evolves, we may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. If any future features require external data transmission, we will explicitly ask for your consent and update this document accordingly. However, our commitment to a privacy-respecting, local-first core experience will never change.
